WIN’S STORY

It is hard to believe that it is almost five and a half years ago that I found a large lump in my thigh. Almost overnight I was diagnosed with Metastatic Melanoma Stage 3. Talk about hitting a speed hump!! It turned our world upside down whilst I dealt with several weeks of immunotherapy, followed by major surgery. This left me with lymphoedema in my leg but that seemed a small price to pay. We are over the moon that I have now passed the five year mark – how lucky am I !!!
Treatment options have changed so much in the last few years and tremendous advances have been made. The Melanoma Marches this year are hoping to raise $1 million for a world-first clinical trial of a Personalised Immunotherapy Platform. This could ultimately save thousands of lives.
Covid has greatly impacted on all our lives, but it has made us realize how important our family and friends are. We are doing the Melanoma March in the hope that funds raised will help to beat this awful disease. We do this with our children’s and grandchildren’s health in mind. Melanoma has not stood still during Covid!
