Story
I am a Stage IV Melanoma patient/survivor. In 2021, I was given a “NED” No Evidence of Disease outcome after an original diagnosis in 2018. My recovery was enabled by the incredible Medical Oncology team at MIA, trials and patience, a commitment to healing and some luck. I have participated in the Melanoma Institute Australia’s Melanoma March since March 2019, led by my own introduction to this incredible community. I’m participating in this year’s Melanoma March to not only raise awareness for sun safety but to also support this important research for advanced patients. Australia has one of the highest rates of Melanoma globally. I believe in a holistic approach to healing and this research into the psychological support necessary for advanced Melanoma patients is a critical component to the ongoing care of patients. It has the potential to effect outcomes. Please support this vital research. Research saves lives and ultimately it saved mine. If you’re able to support the MIA and this valuable and tangible research please do so.
