Dear friends and family,
As many of you know I was diagnosed with melanoma in November 2021.
I had my first melanoma around 5 years ago. Luckily this was caught early. It was cut out and I moved on.
In October 2021 I had a biopsy on my back. Another melanoma. But this time around it was different. I was shocked when I was told that this melanoma had spread. This was the beginning of what was to be a more difficult journey. Since late 2021 I have undergone 2 surgeries and just completed a 12-month course of immunotherapy in December.
The last year has not been an easy time. I am extremely grateful to have had such amazing support on this journey from all my friends and family. It has made the road a lot easier. I am pleased to say I am currently clear, but under constant surveillance.
I am so fortunate to be under the care of the amazing team at Melanoma Institute Australia, having had the benefit of one of their clinical trials. The groundbreaking research they are doing has given me and my family hope for the future.
It is my great hope that this research will not only help me but also my children and future generations.
Melanoma does not discriminate. It is the most deadly cancer among young Australians aged between 20 and 39. One person is diagnosed every 30 minutes and one person dies of melanoma in Australia every 6 hours.
On Sunday 19 March I will be marching to raise awareness for Melanoma, to support others going through this journey, to remember those we have lost, and to raise funds to help MIA achieve their goal of zero deaths from Melanoma. All funds raised will go towards a clinical trial to support MIA’s research into melanoma and its impact.
Please help me by liking, leaving a comment, and sharing my page. Or join me in Manly on 19 March for the march.
So please, dig deep for this great cause and help me take steps to beat melanoma. Every little bit helps me reach my target of $1000.
