Story
This April will mark my one year anniversary of reaching NED status (no evidence of disease) from stage 3 mucosal melanoma. This particular type of melanoma is extremely rare (making up only 1-2% of all melanomas) which means it is under researched, much harder to treat and more likely to return. I am remaining super positive and hopeful that for me it is gone for good but if I do have a recurrence and for all the people currently battling, any advancements in treatment are vital. I am incredibly lucky and fortunate to be under the care of the Melanoma Institute Australia and the exceptional professionals working there every day to treat this disease and find a cure. In Australia 1300 people die every year from Melanoma, and further research is needed to achieve the MIA’s goal of zero deaths from Melanoma this decade.
